Shopping, convenience, and entertainment are but a few of the many reasons people choose to live in a world-class city like Washington, DC. For the DC Government, the perennial question has been how to attract new people into the city? By working closely with the DC Government, Media Spiders® created a dynamic website highlighting all the best places to live, eat, shop, and play. Then to make it easy for people to find housing Media Spiders® created an application that allowed people to search DC's own database of properties either being built or planned to be built within the district. Media Spiders® developed a database which highlighted the different aspects of each major neighborhood within the city. Moving from concept to actual design, Media Spiders® utilized a complete version of the i-Spider content management tool to govern the ever-changing, ever-burgeoning apartment and condo property content and then to unite it with the other special features present in each neighborhood.<< back to case studies
The city provided the housing and additional data in simple text files. Media Spiders® linked the data to identifiable points on the map. All prospective residents had to do was roll a mouse over the map to see what was available where.
The D.C. Government was satisfied because it could update site’s content at will, with little or no assistance. Moreover, Media Spiders® provided a limited-space solution for advertisers that were sponsoring the EXPO—a narrow, scrolling banner featuring the sponsors’ logos that was clearly visible along the site’s bottom edge.
